So after a busy day at work followed by a few errands on the way home, I walked in to find Gizmo and Lacey cuddled together. They were so cute I just had to snap a picture of them. She's so little but her coat is thickening and she seems to be getting fluffier by the day which makes her look bigger than she is. Lacey is actually lying on Gizzy's legs. His back paw is sticking out under her belly and she's using his front leg as a pillow. In this picture, you can really see the different colors of her coat.
At the end of the day, it's nice to come home to some furry sweetness.
Here's wishing you some sweetness at the end of your day.

Say hello to Lacey!
So here is the newest addition to our family. Meet our sweet little Lacey. She just showed up on my porch one night about a week and a half ago. I have no clue from where she came. According to our veterinarian, she is about 10 weeks old now. She had a fabulous mane but I had to trim it because her fur was all matted. I can't wait for it to grow back in.
She looks mighty comfortable on my laptop keyboard, doesn't she? I love the look on her face here. It's like she's saying, "excuse me, I think you need to pay me some attention".
She loves playing with ribbon so her name was a natural jump from there. Lacey is the softest little furball and the moment you pet her, she purrs. Her fur has a grey tinge to it and she has a small white spot on her lower abdomen. She's made herself at home in our house and hearts.
And here we have a little monkey see, monkey do. Callie couldn't wait for Lacey to vacate the keyboard so she could get some attention for herself.
Hope you enjoyed meeting our furballs.
Have a great day!

Sleeping Beauties
I caught this picture very early on Saturday morning. While this is not the most flattering picture of my son with his bedhead, it is a great picture and I just love it. As you can see, there is a little while paw sticking out from under the blanket touching his face. That's Gizmo sleeping next to Logan under the blanket. Gizzy often sleeps with Logan and always needs to have a paw touching Logan's face or chin. I peeked under the blanket after taking this picture and Gizzy was all nestled into Logan's chest. It was so cute to see them cuddled together like that.
Here's a small example of feline agility. Giz can often be found in the craziest of sleeping positions.
What can I say? Gizmo is just that kind of cat. Gotta love him!

Blizzard 2010
We got hit with a monster blizzard on Sunday and we're still dealing with it. It's going to be a while before we get back to normal around here.
This is my neighbor's little convertible and you can see my white Murano on the other side of the street. I got smart this time around and remembered to park on the left side of the street so as not to be buried when the plow came through.
This is the view to the right of my house.
In the next two pictures, we are 3 hours into the storm. Already you can see a huge difference.
My tree was bending beneath the weight of the snow.
In the morning, we surveyed the damage. It took some force to even get my door opened.
Look at the drift down at the bottom of my stairs near my garbage pail. Can you also see the big drift in the middle of the street?
Here's a closer look at the drifts. We had 50 mile per hour wind gusts which created these drifts. One good thing about the wind was it blew nearly all the snow off my car. Only a little bit remained on the back of my car.
Oh my poor tree!
Raven and Gizmo checking out the scenery. I love the way their tails are curled towards each other.

Everybody wanted to investigate, from Gizmo to Raven to Shave to Dusty. Jim made the joke we shouldn't let Bluebell out because he'd blend in with the snow and we'd lose him. (Bluebell is a pure white persian kitty.)
And the total is....
This is the carnage after the storm and the plow barreling down the block. Notice the wall of snow on the left side of the yellow convertible; it's nearly as high as the car itself. I feel sorry for that poor guy. He's gonna be there forever digging out. Wasn't I smart parking on the other side? LOL Yay for me!
So now we wait until the big thaw. Thankfully, it's supposed to be near 50 degrees come the weekend. Perhaps some of this will melt.

Weekend shots 11/20-21
Hi, everyone.
This was a kitty weekend for sure. Raven went to the clinic for spaying on Saturday. She came through the surgery just fine and was bouncing around that same night. She's got a shaved belly but her incision is already healing nicely.
Here's a picture of Jim and Gizmo taking a little nap yesterday afternoon. Cute, right?
Saturday night, we had our monthly gamenight. As usual, we had a great time. We had a new addition to our group. Lisa, a fabulous cat groomer, joined our group for the first time. In this picture, she was giving Gizmo a neck massage and he was just in his glory. Can you tell he was enjoying it? I'd never seen this done with a cat before but, boy, did he love it. If you live in the NY area and need your pet groomed (she does doggies, too) leave me a message and I'll give you Lisa's number. I highly recommend her.
Earlier in the day on Saturday, I took both Dusty and Bluebell to Lisa so she could groom them. They are both long haired kitties so they were in need of a little maintenance.

Here is my poor little Bluebell. He had a more than a few tangles in his long white, persian coat so rather than put him through the pain of trying to brush them out, Lisa, the groomer, suggested we give him what is called the Lion Cut. She did a great job of shaving him down. She was so gentle with both of my furbabies. She even gave Blue a bath- his first ever! He looks so tiny now without his long coat of fluff. What's funny is, Gizmo didn't seem to recognize him when we brought him home after his haircut. To tell you the truth, I, too, am having trouble recognizing my fluffball since he's no longer a fluffball.

Weekend shots 9/12-9/13/10
There was no car parked in front of my neighbor's house so I was able to see the doggy's lantern when it was lit. It's a bit brighter than the pic shows. The flash detracted from the brightness of the light in the lantern.
This is Baby. He belongs to the people across the street, (the ones with the doggy lantern). He's a stray that comes and goes at their house like Shave does at mine. They are in FL now so he's homeless. I opened my door to feed him and he just walked in and made himself at home. He was out cold on my couch in a most relaxed position so I just had to take pic of him. After he woke and ate some, he very loudly alerted me to the fact that he wanted out. I opened the door and out he went.

Weekend shots 8/28
This past Saturday night was our monthly gamenight. I had the a/c kicking and my friend, Doug, was freezing. We decided to bundle him up. Doesn't he look all toasty?
At gamenight, we always order food in. Some of the group wanted Chinese food and the others went for Italian. Ok, so fast-forward to Sunday morning, I heard Gizmo making some noise. With that cat, noise is never a good thing! So I got up to investigate what he was up to. I chased him through the house until I cornered him. See that thing under his paw? That's a spare rib. Darling Demon Cat went into the trash bin and found himself a nice, juicy rib. Let me tell you, he was not happy that I took his rib away. (Oh and that little stuffed reindeer, that belongs to Dusty.)

Guess I have to make doubly sure now that the lid is down on the garbage bin!

Addendum to 8/14 Weekend Shots
It would appear that a correction has to be made on the number of cats my across-the-street-neighbor feeds on her backyard deck. I thought it was 8, wrong! I went over there this morning as I was leaving on my way to work. I wanted to let her know one of her brood came for a morning feeding on my porch. I was surprised to see Baby, as she calls him, on my porch poaching food from the bunch that I feed. He never comes out front so it was certainly a surprise.
I wasn't the only one surprised by his trespassing. My "regulars" were looking at him like, "who the heck is this guy?", as he went from plate to plate gobbling up their food. As you can imagine, they were none too happy.
Upon ringing Phyllis' bell, she invited me in to meet everyone who was lolling around waiting for her to stop stalling and put the food out already. I walked out on her deck and it was like a cat-a-palooza back there. Kitties everywhere! We did a tail count and the number she feeds is 11, including 4 new fluffy kittens, we think. Nice lady to feed that many kitties, right? She had me laughing when she informed me that her husband of nearly 5 decades sneaks them food when he thinks she's not looking. She said she lets him think she doesn't know. Cute stuff!
Oh and I noticed my boarder cat, Shave, lounging on her covered bbq grill. That 2-timing cat! I wondered where he spends his days when he's not at my house. Now I know!
I was having a great time lolling around myself chatting with Phyllis but the clock was ticking and I needed to get to work so I had to say goodbye to her and her furry friends. On my way out, though, I asked her if that lantern hanging from her cute little doggy lawn ornament lights up and she said yes. It just needs a battery. So, I expect I'll be seeing it lit in the future as soon as her husband gets around to replacing the battery. Maybe when he's not out back playing with the "kids" as he refers to them. Ahhh, the joys of retired life. Good for them!
Have a nice day everyone!

Weekend shots
Here is my Saturday shot. I bought this purse in Gatlinburg, Tennessee last week. I wanted something small but big enough to carry my wallet, phone, and sunglasses. We went into a leather shop and this little number called my name. It even has a little blue in it.
And this sweet shot of Raven and Gizmo was begging to be immortalized. Aren't they just adorable all cuddled up together?

Club Getaway
Hello, everyone. Hope you are enjoying the month of June so far. I can't believe half the year is gone already. Only 17 days left of school and 7th grade will be done. Mom wasn't kidding when she said, "once they start school, the years fly by". God rest her.
Logan went on a school trip last week to a resort located in upstate New York called Club Getaway. I'd never heard of it before this but he said it was a great place and he had a lot of fun. I wasn't able to go on this trip so another mom was kind enough to take some pics of him for me. Thanks, Maria!
Here he is rock wall climbing.
Chess, anyone?
Chess not your game? Ok, how about some bungy-ing?
As you can see, he really did have a lot of fun. I can tell you this, I certainly never went on trips to places like this when I was young. Lucky kid, isn't he?

She is jumping off the couch and showing her fearless but playful little personality. We all have lots of fun laughing at her cuteness as she explores the house. We've trained her to lap her kitten replacement milk from a small dish but here's a pic of Jim feeding her while she was still on the bottle. Precious, isn't she?

Memorial Day Weekend
The lovely 3-day long Memorial Day weekend is winding up and it'll be back to reality soon but I thought I'd take a little more play time and update my blog which I haven't done in a while. It was a really nice weekend as we had no rain for a change. It was a little warmer than I would like but one can't have everything, can one?
A lot has happened since my last post. Let's see, I went to Texas and Oklahoma to see my friends, Lisa and Kathi. I had a blast to say the least and I thank Lisa, David and Kathi for their hospitality. They treated me so well and totally spoiled me. It was a really nice trip but it flew by way too quickly. Isn't that always the case when you're having fun? I can't wait to go back to see my friends. Maybe in September for Kathi's crop if the airfare prices cooperate. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed they do.
Here is a picture of what happened when I was packing for my trip. Whenever I pack, my kitties think I'm giving them new places to hang out and inevitably, I end up having to move them out of the suitcases so I can continue to pack. Here we see Shave sleeping on the back of couch, Gizmo in the large suitcase and Bluebell in the smaller one.
Logan had 2 baseball games last week. Here is Logan getting ready for one of those games. It was 96 degrees that day. To say it was a scorcher is an understatement but we were there cheering him on. Boy, did we all need showers after that game.
And here's one of him up at bat. He batted an rbi in this time.
So take a look at another little baby resting on Jim's shoulder. This is a different kitten from the same litter as the kitten I posted last time. This one is a sweet, little girl and she's just darling. She's 4 weeks old now and extremely lovable and playful. We are very much considering keeping her. She's still on kitten replacement formula and I feed her every few of hours with a small baby bottle. I can't help but be reminded of when my son was an infant with the middle of the night feedings. I also hear my mom's words in my head "babies are for the young" because let me tell you, it's way harder getting up for those early morning feedings now than it was 13 years ago when my son was little. I'm trying to get her to lap up her milk from a saucer and she's slowly getting it so that's good.
We went to Leo and Andi's house yesterday for another great bbq. We took the baby with us as she needs constant care. Here she is ready for her road trip. Cute, right? She slept on my shoulder for the hour ride to their house.
And since it was so lovely in their backyard, she thought she'd just take another little catnap on the patio furniture after her afternoon feeding. Notice her full belly, the little piggy.
We went back to that pond Leo took us to the last time we visited them. While it was very sunny and hot, a perfectly positioned tree lent me some shade from where I could enjoy the scenery. Caterina caught her very own fish which was very exciting for her. It's called a "sunny" and after posing for this proud picture, she released her catch back into the pond.

Hope you had a great weekend and took a moment to remember our veterans on this day. We owe them so much for their sacrifices.
Nice evening, all!

New arrival
Say hello to a brand new life. Take a look at this precious little furball just 2 weeks old. This tiny blue eyed baby was born to a semi-stray female living in a wooden cathouse a neighbor built for her across the street. She had 4 kittens in total and they are adorable to say the least. I "borrowed" this one for a little while as we want to acclimate them to being handled so they will be adoptable. I, naturally, fell in love with this creature even before he licked my chin. Once he did that, well, you can imagine how hard it was returning him to his mommy but he needed to nurse. Say hi, he's waving to you!
What a face! Too cute!
He cuddled up in a ball on Logan.
Just darling, right? Well, now on to my first baby. Logan had a baseball game last night. His team won the game and Logan even pitched some. The coach pulled Logan from shortstop and put him on the mound. He hadn't pitched since last season but he did very well by throwing some really nice strikes.
Here are some pics of Logan pitching. I took these shots thru the holes in the chain link fence lining the field. Sorry they are kind of dark. It was almost 8 pm.

New Visitor
Well, last night we had a visitor in our house. My son decided to pick up one of the kittens that I feed outside and bring him inside. He's about 2-3 months old I would guess and just adorable. My husband came home from work just as this was happening and before the poor guy could even take off his coat, my son handed off the kitten to him to babysit while he finished his homework and I went to cook dinner. Nothing says, welcome
home after 10 hrs of work like a kitten, right?
It would appear that while I was being a good wife and mother and cooking for my hungry boys, my husband was building a nice little bond with the furball. Jim wrapped the kitten up in his hoody who then went to sleep. But as if that wasn't enough, Jim even held the baby the whole time he ate dinner and until he went to bed.
That's when all heck broke loose. Jim tried to give me the kitten and he freaked, the kitten, not Jim. He scratched my face, arm and bit my middle finger which bled like crazy. We managed to calm him down but it was evident that yet another kitty favored my husband. Geez Louise! What do I have to do to get a cat of my own? We wrapped him up back in the hoody and set him down in the corner of the couch where he slept until 3:30 am until he decided he needed to relieve himself. I was sleeping then until I was awoken by the tell-tale sound of gastric distress. My nose was first assaulted by the smell and then my eyes once I turned on the light to find a watery mess on my couch cushion. Ugh! We'd provided the little guy with his very own litter box but evidently, he didn't quite know its purpose. So there I was scrubbing down the cushion and then febreezing. Finally, at 4 a.m., I slipped on a coat and returned the kitten to his little "cat-house" across the street built by one of my neighbors. I settled back into bed until 5:48 when Shave, the boarder kitty, cried to be let out.
So, needless to say, I'm more than a little tired today, have boo boos and still don't have a cat that loves me! Can I get a group awwwwww???
Here are some pics of the almost-my-kitty.
