May Flowers

Good morning, dear bloggers.

I'm feeling very springish (is that even a word?) lately. The weather has been nice the last few days so I went shopping last night at a little mom and pop nursery that I like. They give that extra bit of personal service that you can't get at a Home Depot. I had such a good time there enjoying all the fragrances from all the different types of flowers that seemed to be whispering to me with their colorful blooms, saying, "pick me, pick me". In the end, I opted for some simple impatiens because I know how they start off small but will fill out my flower boxes wonderfully. They will also continually bloom and hold up well to the full sun my porch gets.

Once I'd decided on the type of flower, there was another choice to make; what color of impatiens. I let Logan choose and he went for deep pink and red. I also bought my favorite hanging plant, a Million Bells. By the end of the summer that plant will be huge with tons of flowers. Jim rigged up something for me so I could hang it from my porch awning. While I was cooking dinner, I planted my newly acquired flowers. I'm all for multi-tasking so I went to play in the dirt while the pasta cooked.

Here's my pretty Million Bells.
And the deep pink impatiens. They are actually a deeper pink than the picture shows but it was past sunset by this time.
Here are the red ones.
And of course, Gizmo had to lend his assistance. I turned my back to get the soil and there he was in the box. What a good little helper he is, right?

Well, that's it for now bloggers. Hope you enjoyed my pretty flowers...and inquisitive kitty.
Wishing you a happy day!

Melissa's cj and other fun stuff

Happy May to everyone! Spring is in full bloom here. Saturday was Jim's birthday and Mother Nature gave us a beautiful day. Logan and Caterina had baseball games in the morning but in the afternoon we went to Leo and Andi's house and had another wonderful day with them.

We had a bbq and then went to a very scenic pond near their house where Leo and the kids fished. It was so nice sitting there on the bank of the pond. Jim had thrown some lawn chairs in the back of my car the day before so we were set. There were a pair of geese who floated around the pond and I felt like we'd stumbled upon their secret hideaway but they graciously shared it with us. After a good period of time, it became apparent that the fish weren't in the mood to bite so the kids went in search of other excitement in the way of frog hunting. It didn't take long before they'd found some. I kept waiting to hear a splash sound meaning one of the kids had fallen into the pond but luckily both kids stayed dry.

Here's a pic of Jim and Logan on the bank of the pond.

And here's Leo. The rest of his shirt says "Repeat". Cute, right?
And the kids, Caterina and Logan.

Here's a nice shot of Logan casting his line.

It was a really nice day and I want to thank Leo and Andi. It's great to have friends like you!

Ok, here is Melissa's cj - 5 Things I can't live without. I finally got it done. Yay! It's about time, I know! I also did the sign-in but the stickles weren't dry last night so I'll finish that up tonight. It was hard to photograph these. Without the flash, they were too dark and with the flash, they are hard to read but you get the idea.

Thanks for dropping by. Later, friends.

It's Monday again and that means that it's time for stinky work after a nice weekend. My Uncle Kenny and his daughter, Maddy, are visiting from Florida. They've spent the weekend with us and it's been just wonderful having them with us. Obviously, due to the distance between us we don't get to see each other that often so I'm just overjoyed that they are here. Unfortunately, Maddy flies out today because she has to get back to college and my uncle will be leaving tomorrow. I'm bummed that I can't be with them today but Jim is home with them today and I'll be taking off from work tomorrow. I know I'll be sad when Uncle Kenny leaves tomorrow but he's informed us that he'll be back in June so that is something to look forward to with great anticipation.

Monday is also the day for posting my los for our circle journal. Here are my los for Jessica's theme. Now, those of you who know me, know that I am not a big fan of summer so this was not the easiest topic for me. I had to think of other reasons besides the obvious ones that people like about summer because those are the things that make me not like it. The heat and humidity that come with that season are enough to make me hibernate in my frigidly air conditioned house. So, that being said, there still had to be some things about summer that are ok and after some thought, this is what I came up with. I glimmermisted the journaling mats which was fun. I love spritzing things with glimmermist. Don't you? And that adorable butterfly is courtesy of Lisa.

Alrighty, back to work I go. Hope you enjoy my "sunny" los.

Sign-ins

Well, hello long lost cyberspace. My internet service at home has been down since Saturday and I've been seriously jonesing for the world wide web. I even came into work a little early today so I could get my fix of it. You know it had to be bad for me to come into work early. Since I don't have all that much time, I'll make this post quick.

I took a nap yesterday afternoon and, of course, it messed up my regular sleep schedule. Since I couldn't go to sleep at my normal hour last night, I decided to scrap and get caught up on some sign-in tags for the cj swap. At 2:30 a.m, I was finally feeling like I could go to sleep so I put my stuff away and went to bed. Naturally, I was zombified this morning but at least I was productive.

Here is the sign-in for Jessica's 3 Reasons I Love Summer theme.
Here is my sign-in for Emma's 3 Favorite Actors Theme.
And finally, my sign-in for Elaine's 4 Things On My Welcome Sign.
I have to tell you how much I'm loving my Gypsy. I would have spent a whole lot of time looking for these shapes on the backs of the Cricut cartridge boxes. Instead, I just did a quick search on the Gypsy and it brought up all the carts that contained these shapes. Then I was able to cut directly from the Gypsy to the Cricut. In fact, I didn't even know that I had a cart with a door hangar on it so my Gypsy is proving to be worth every penny.

Ok, I've been on here longer than I should have been so I have to run.

Hope you like the sign-ins. Have a great day everyone!

Logan's handmade book

Hi, all. I thought I'd show you the book that my son created for a compulsory bookwriting/illustrating contest in which he participated. While the contest is optional for most students, it was mandatory for his honor class. Naturally, just one more project he had to do in the month of February bringing the total to ten projects for that month. Logan decided to use a golden retriever mix named Kasie as his main character. Kasie was probably the most lovable golden retriever mix ever. We were burlarized once and I just know that Kasie licked them and brought his ball for them to play with him. You can see a pic of my beloved dog in the book.

I helped with the construction of the actual book but Logan wrote the story and did the drawings all by himself. The rules of the contest stated that the book had to have a title page, copyright page, dedication, blurb, about the author, etc., in addition to a clear message within the story. The rules also did not allow for any kind of plastic or metal binding or we would have used metal rings. His book has been submitted as a finalist. Keep your fingers crossed, folks. The winner of the contest gets $500.

Hope you enjoyed his book project. I am very proud of him and the work he did on this. Remember, fingers crossed!

Emma's cj

Emma's topic for her cj was My 3 Favorite Actors. When contemplating my choices, the first two came to me immediately but I had to ponder on whom should round out the top three. There were many candidates but in the end, her body of award winning work speaks for itself and, therefore, Meryl easily earns entry into my elite threesome. Now, while Viggo hasn't won an Oscar as have the other two, he just does it for me. Ooh la la! Enough said!

So, without further adieu, here are the pics of Emma's cj.

Thanks for looking.

Courtney's cj

Well, it's been some time since I updated my blog. Sorry for that, folks. I've been busy with school projects and everyday life so I've neglected this little piece of me. What else is new, right?

It was a glorious weekend weather-wise. Just absolutely perfect; the way it should be all the time. Don't I wish! But even with the lovely weather calling me outside, I was productive and finished 2 cj's; one of which is Courtney's.
Here is Courtney's "4 Things I've Repurposed for Scrapping".
I, again, went outside of my comfort color palette. I still have to do the sign-in but I couldn't remember what it is supposed to be. Once I confirm that, I'll zip it up and get it posted.
Here's wishing you a great week.
