New mini album project

So here is a little project that I worked on yesterday afternoon. It's a mini album but I made this entirely myself out of cardstocky paper.

Here is the outside cover. Notice the satin ribbon lacing. I threaded the ribbon thru eyelets for support and to minimize tearing. I took a 12 x 12 sheet and cut it in half and glued it to the other half to make it double thick. I then took an identical sheet and did the same on the other side. I then laced them together. Here is the mini open. Again a bit of ribbon thru eyelets.

Here is the center at full view. I plan on adding more folded-over flaps like the center ones to the inside covers flaps.

Here is a closer view of the center. Each "page" has a different border punched into it. This was a great way to use a bunch of my border punches all in one project.
Each page is double sided. Also provides a place for more pics.
And here is the back cover.
Hope you like my little project. It took a little trial and error but I eventually figured it all out. I plan on making more of these.
Thanks for looking.

Weekend shots 8/28

This past Saturday night was our monthly gamenight. I had the a/c kicking and my friend, Doug, was freezing. We decided to bundle him up. Doesn't he look all toasty? At gamenight, we always order food in. Some of the group wanted Chinese food and the others went for Italian. Ok, so fast-forward to Sunday morning, I heard Gizmo making some noise. With that cat, noise is never a good thing! So I got up to investigate what he was up to. I chased him through the house until I cornered him. See that thing under his paw? That's a spare rib. Darling Demon Cat went into the trash bin and found himself a nice, juicy rib. Let me tell you, he was not happy that I took his rib away. (Oh and that little stuffed reindeer, that belongs to Dusty.)

Guess I have to make doubly sure now that the lid is down on the garbage bin!

Weekend shots 8/21

Ok, I'm finally getting a chance to post my pics from 2 wks ago.

It was a lovely Saturday that weekend. It was cool compared to the blistering heat we had all summer. My plants appreciated the break in heat, too. So much so did they appreciate it that they bloomed like they hadn't since the spring. I just had to take a pic of them in all their pinkness. Here is Jim's Spidey jacket. He loves this jean jacket. Spidey is his 2nd favorite character after Wolverine.
I'm off to post this weekend's shots.
See you in a minute.

A visit to Hogwarts

My Uncle Kenny sent me his pictures from when my son was visiting them in Florida a few weeks ago. They went to Universal Studios and I thought I'd post a few of the pictures of a new attraction they have there. They waited 2 1/2 hrs in 104 degree temperature to see this attraction. Logan said it was ok but not worth that long of a wait in that kind of heat.

Here is my cousin Maddy and Logan in front of a rather impressive castle. Hard to believe that's in Orlando. BTW, she just graduated from college. Way to go, Maddy! We're so proud of you!
Another of Logan. I don't know the name of the boy in yellow but he's best friends with my cousin Josh who's beside him.
Just looking at this roller coaster is making me dizzy! Notice the net hanging there to catch falling belongings.
Another shot of the castle.

Cool looking roof in the middle of July in 104 degrees.
Jelly bean, anyone? What flavor will you get, moldy bread, shoe leather or a perhaps a pleasant toe nail clipping?
Hagrid's house. Shall we see if he's up for a spot of tea?
Maybe we'll check this out when we go to Orlando in November. It'll be a lot cooler and the crowds won't be as bad either. I'll let you know what I think of it. Oh and I'll say hi to Dumbledore for you.

Addendum to 8/14 Weekend Shots

It would appear that a correction has to be made on the number of cats my across-the-street-neighbor feeds on her backyard deck. I thought it was 8, wrong! I went over there this morning as I was leaving on my way to work. I wanted to let her know one of her brood came for a morning feeding on my porch. I was surprised to see Baby, as she calls him, on my porch poaching food from the bunch that I feed. He never comes out front so it was certainly a surprise.

I wasn't the only one surprised by his trespassing. My "regulars" were looking at him like, "who the heck is this guy?", as he went from plate to plate gobbling up their food. As you can imagine, they were none too happy.

Upon ringing Phyllis' bell, she invited me in to meet everyone who was lolling around waiting for her to stop stalling and put the food out already. I walked out on her deck and it was like a cat-a-palooza back there. Kitties everywhere! We did a tail count and the number she feeds is 11, including 4 new fluffy kittens, we think. Nice lady to feed that many kitties, right? She had me laughing when she informed me that her husband of nearly 5 decades sneaks them food when he thinks she's not looking. She said she lets him think she doesn't know. Cute stuff!

Oh and I noticed my boarder cat, Shave, lounging on her covered bbq grill. That 2-timing cat! I wondered where he spends his days when he's not at my house. Now I know!

I was having a great time lolling around myself chatting with Phyllis but the clock was ticking and I needed to get to work so I had to say goodbye to her and her furry friends. On my way out, though, I asked her if that lantern hanging from her cute little doggy lawn ornament lights up and she said yes. It just needs a battery. So, I expect I'll be seeing it lit in the future as soon as her husband gets around to replacing the battery. Maybe when he's not out back playing with the "kids" as he refers to them. Ahhh, the joys of retired life. Good for them!

Have a nice day everyone!

8/14/10 Weekend Shots

Hello, bloggers!

Sorry for my tardiness but here are my shots from this weekend.

I took a short walk across the street on Saturday and snapped a pic of this cute little lawn ornament that graces my neighbor's front yard. What's funny is they don't have a real dog. Instead, they feed 8 cats in their backyard. My Sunday shot is of my son's colorfully laced sneakers. This green is his favorite color. Last year, all his school supplies where this color.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

RAK to MIL

I recently acquired a Cuttlebug die set that makes 4 adorable little animals one of which is this cutie of an elephant. What's more, I got it on serious clearance at AC Moore's. My mother-in-law loves elephants and I love my mother-in-law so I made her this card for no particular reason.

Melissa - notice your influence? I totally "borrowed" your idea. Aren't you proud of me for doing some stamping? LOL
Thanks for looking.

Adventureland Adventure

Last night we went to a local amusement park called Adventureland. It's located about 40 minutes away from us on Long Island. It was a relatively cool night compared to the scorchers we've had all summer so it was a good night to go. We went with my friend Maria and her son, Matthew, and her daughter, Melissa. We also brought Eddie, Raja and Caterina with us.

Here's a shot of all of the kids.
Here are some of the stooges, Logan, Eddie and Raja, as Jim calls them. Don't ask me which is which stooge.
Here are the girls, Melissa and Caterina.
Another of Melissa and Matthew.

Here is that pirate again. I can't tell you how many pics we have of this same pirate on the right. We've encountered him in Florida, the Bahamas, and now on Long Island.
Here is a pic of the kids in the balloon lob. They place water filled balloons in the red buckets above them, pull back and let 'em go at each other. Naturally, they were soaked after this attraction. Thank goodness I thought ahead and had them all bring a change of clothes.
On the floom ride. Another opportunity to get wet.
Don't need a license to drive these cars.

Logan got the last ride of the night on the swings. I got dizzy just looking at them going round and round on this ride.
Didn't know we had our own version of the Eiffel Tower right here on Long Island.
Did ya ever see such a huge chocolate bar? Notice the chocolate covered drake's cakes devil dogs or marshmallows above it to get a sense of perspective. It was huge!

We closed the park and left around 11:30 p.m. Everyone had a great night and a lot of fun.

This weekend's shots

This is my Saturday shot. I took this pic of one of my throw pillows that sit upon my couch. I love the blue beads and I love how one of them caught the flash. We went to an amusement park last night. I saw this neon sign outside of the candy shop. I stared at it for a moment trying to process what it said. Then it dawned on me that the "R" didn't have part of it blacked out which is what was causing my brain trouble in recognizing the word. It's supposed to say "shoppe" not shorpe.
Thanks for coming by.

Weekend shots 7/31-8/1

Here are my shots for last weekend. Sorry I'm late in posting. It's been a long week and this has been my first chance to access the computer.

We've started on our back to school supply list so I made a bouquet of my favorite bic pens. I'm loving that the stores are carrying them again. For years they were impossible to find. Here is my little bench in my front yard. This is the bench we sit our annual scarecrow on. My father-in-law makes these. In this pic, I'd just finished giving it a fresh coat of red spray paint to spruce it up. You'll notice the heavy chain. We've sadly had to resort to chaining it down because it has a bad habit of disappearing from our yard and I've gotten tired of replacing it.
I'll be back with this weekend's shots.
